tutoring

In tutoring we had a student come in and wanted help with her paper. She was not sure about the works cited and how to references in the paper so we showed her a website on delicious that would help her and also showed her how to do a in text cited. It was difficult helping her because she had an accent that was hard to understand also she talked very quietly and would not speak up even when we asked her to. However her paper did seem to be ok and focused on the topic she had,

class and marxism.

So the end of the year is rapidly approaching and our final paper is due very soon. In class Tuesday we met with our groups to go over our presentations and to be honest im still not sure what to say but hopefully I can just wing it and it will be ok. On Thursday we met with the other people who were doing our topic and went over someones finished paper from last semester im not really worried about writing the paper im just worried about being in front of the class giving a presentation. I cannot wait till the end of the semester.

Catch a tiger by the toe

Tuesday in class we finished discussing Catch a tiger by The Toe we went over the structuralism of the novel and also how it applied to media. We talked over what happened in the novel which was good because I wanted to make sure what I got out of it was the basic concept. The novel was a good read but the ending left something to be desired. I did not like the fact that the book ended with the narrator saying she knew her father was going to prison, I do not find that to be a good ending. Also it was nice to have the titled explained becasue i did nto understand why it was titled that.

tutoring

When I went to tutoring Wednesday we actually had a student to tutor. She had a paper due for her dance class. She had to go the Wayne State dance festival and then write about her experiences. She came in to the tutoring center because she felt like the paper was very repetitive and wanted some help in word variation; also she felt that her grammar was off in some places. At this session I was just basically watching and observing but I did get to help her with her closing statement. I had a good time helping this tutee because she had a great sense of humor and was serious about getting help and not just doing it because she was told to.
