Marxism

On Thursday we discussed Marxism and how to apply it not only to film but also to advertisements. We went over how to recognize who has the power and if it is actual power or a false sense of power. We discussed social relations and how it applies to Marxism. When we finished or discussion we observed three scenes from the movie Save the Last Dance and went over the positions over power and how all of them that we picked out we were false senses of power except for one. After identifying what the powers was Mrs. Wilson described how to identify who has the power.

8 page minimum

Today at tutoring my partner and I just sat waiting we discussed or media projects and or final projects. Around 12:30 a girl came in for help with her 3010 paper I was not sure if we were suppose to help her since we are in the same course she is in. So we discussed what her paper was about she was having a hard time making it meet the eight page minimum assigned by her instructor. Mostly we told her to start with some history on the subject and then lead into the effect it will have on the future generations of America’s society.

class before spring break!

On Tuesday which was the only day I had class we were assigned our media projects. I’m not going to lie I was so excited about spring break that I had a hard time concentrating. I did read Catch a Tiger by the Toe over break and did find it enjoyable. I am excited about the end of the year coming up but a little worried about the icon essay hopefully I get it right and don’t mess it up to bad. On Tuesday we talked about postmodern culture and how it is applied to the internet, the class was interesting

SnOW DaY

When I woke up on Wednesday I was so excited to see all the snow, after checking my email and finding out campus was closed due to the snow I jumped for joy. I did not get to tutor but I did read Catch a Tiger by the Toe and so far it is very interesting. It highlights the impact media can have on the opinions of others. This book is a very easy read, but very enjoyable. To be honest I did not think I was going to like this book very much but after the first couple of chapters I was actually excited to keep going and find out what was going to happen next.
